Hillary Madsen
Interim Vice Chair for Programs

Hillary MadsenOne of the youngest chairs of a legislative district in Washington state, Hillary served two terms as chair of the 43rd District Democrats, which included overseeing the 2008 caucus cycle. She gratefully turned over the gavel to Scott Forbes in 2011.

Hillary is now serving as the interim vice chair for programs. Excited to see more students, young professionals, and working parents getting involved in local political organizing, Hillary wants to rethink the traditional panel-style programs of the district's monthly meetings, avoid parliamentary procedure debates, and continue the great tradition of serving alcohol.

One of her favorite elected officials is Bob Hasegawa, her personal heroes are her parents, and for inspiriation when times get tough, Hillary looks up to Dorothy Day with her favorite quote being "People say, 'What is the sense of our small effort?' They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time.''

Outside of her life as a political nerd, Hillary has earned degrees from the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law. She practices as an attorney in civil litigation, focusing on construction disputes and government contracts. Her loves include running slowly, reading quickly, and laughing loudly. Together with her besheret, Rob Dolin, Hillary lives next door to the Pike Place Market.
