Michael Maddux was born at Group Health on Capitol Hill, and grew up primarily in the Everett/Marysville area. He first got involved in his community as a teenager, volunteering at an outreach facility for homeless and high risk youth, and the YO! Crossroads Program, earning recognition from the Edmonds Rotary, Everett Herald and Mayor of Everett for community service. It was at this time that he also began doorbelling for campaigns, starting out for Jeri Costa in the 38th Legislative District.
Since then, he has volunteered for the ground game of campaigns across Snohomish and King Counties, from Port Commission to U.S. Senate. He was previously active in the 38th Legislative District, served as a delegate from UFCW 1001 to the Snohomish County Labor Council and the 2004 COPES convention, as a delegate from Providence Everett Medical Center to the 2005 OPEIU Re-organization, and currently sits on the Parks and Green Spaces Levy Oversight Committee, appointed by the Seattle City Council. In the 43rd, he has previously volunteered as an Apartment Organizer during 2008, and served as Young Democrats Representative (2009), Vice Chair for Events (2009-2010), and now as KCDCC Representative.
Michael lives in Eastlake with his daughter, Lili. Professionally, he is a paralegal in a Seattle law firm, with a focus on representation of abused foster children. Michael coaches little league baseball, plays in the local gay softball league, and has recently taken to bicycle commuting.
